Don Cherry has done it again. This time, the outspoken CBC hockey broadcaster said the men’s locker room is no place for a woman. The comment was reportedly made Saturday night during his weekly Coach’s Corner talk on Hockey Night in Canada. Cherry was discussing the controversy around Chicago Blackhawks defenceman Duncan Keith. Earlier in the week, Keith stirred up his own hot mess by putting down a female radio reporter, Karen Thompson from TSN 1050. After she questioned him in a post-game scrum about a slash on Daniel Sedin of the Vancouver Canucks, Keith reportedly said: “We should get you as a ref maybe, eh? …The first female referee. You can’t play probably either, right? But you’re thinking the game like you know it? OK, see ya.” Cherry said the female reporter should not have been allowed in the locker room to begin with. Cherry went on to say: “I don’t feel women are equal. I feel they’re above us. I think they’re on a pedestal and they should not be walking in when naked guys are walking in. And some guys take advantage of it and I don’t think (they) should be.” We think this out of touch comment has landed Cherry a spot in the HotMessFolder™ for good.
