Talk about lines being blurred! Reportedly, they’re so blurred musically between Robin Thicke & Pharrell Williams’ hit song, and an old Marvin Gaye song, that a jury has ordered Thick & Williams to pay up! Yup! A jury says the pair must pay Marvin Gaye’s estate a whopping $7.4-million-dollars for copyright infringement. Here at HotMessFolder, we got sick of ‘Blurred Lines’ real quick. So if this judgement means we’ll hear it less, we’re kind of cool with that. However, it is a sizzling mess for the hit to get wrapped up in litigation like this. It’s gonna have artists scared to use chords heard in popular songs and that’s not cool. Musicians need to have a certain about of creative freedom. The songs don’t sound THAT similar. It also seems like this case worked it’s way through the system real quick. Don’t these things usually drag out for years? We’re suspicious!
